An original tea cup, handcrafted by Japanese ceramic artist Seigan Yamane.Dark brown clay and impressive glazing with a shiny glaze in a melange of white, green, brown, and sometimes pastel lilac. The glaze is partially transparent, so you can enjoy the natural colour and texture of the clay. Note the interesting detail - a ‘finger dent’, which makes the cup very pleasant to hold. The cup is perfect for tea, but will also be a beautiful vessel for coffee or mulled wine. Each time you use it, you will enjoy the pleasure of experiencing contemporary applied art. The artist's signature appears on the bottom of each cup. 

Seigan Yamane is a respected ceramic artist who lives and works in Hagi. Many years of experimentation and experience with traditional materials and techniques are reflected in the artist's unique vessels. His works are usually irregular in shape and made of fairly heavy, often porous clay with small pebbles. They embody the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi. The artist derives great joy from his daily work and wants to share it with everyone who uses his vessels :)

Due to the handmade nature of his work, each bowl is slightly different from the others - the unique distribution of the glaze on the vessel, the different balance of colours and the subtle differences in size and shape are a natural feature of the objects made by the artist's hand.
