Vase grey and cream 15cm

An original vase, handcrafted at the Marui Seito pottery studio in Shigaraki, Japan. Dark grey clay, irregularly applied matt cream glaze, irregular shape. Original design – an angular vessel that looks as though it has been ‘carved’ from the clay. Raw character, muted colours, wabi-sabi aesthetics. A unique work of art that will decorate your interior.

Hechimon refers to unconventional items made by craftsmen in Shigaraki - it is a registered trademark of the Marui Seito studio. Just as nature creates diverse forms and each of us has a unique individuality, so “hechimon” dishes are characterized by diversity and each of them is one of a kind. Potters believe that, more than industrial products, they are thought to resemble agricultural products created by nature. Craftsmen produce clay vessels with dedication and creativity, respecting their uniqueness and giving them exceptional forms.

NOTE: The vases are made of porous clay and are not glazed on the bottom. We recommend placing them on a coaster or napkin, as their bottom may be slightly rough and scratch smooth surfaces. The inside of the vessel is protected against water soaking through, so avoid washing the vase with detergents. In the event of large temperature changes, the vase may sweat slightly, so it is best to place it on a surface that can withstand delicate contact with moisture.
