Tenugui towel tsobachoko
Tenugui is a traditional Japanese cotton towel / cloth. It usually measures approximately 35 x 90 cm and is made of smooth, thin cotton with raw, unhemmed shorter edges. Tenugui has many uses - it can be a cloth, a hand or face towel, or a headband (protecting against sweat during training or physical work). In the past, it was an indispensable attribute of craftsmen and warriors, and today tenugui still has a practical use, but not only that. It is also a cultural and decorative element - tenugui often have interesting designs, which is why they may be hanged on the wall like a picture, can be used as elegant gift wrapping or an original souvenir.
Tenugui illustrates Japanese sobachoko cups, originally used for the sauce served with soba buckwheat noodles, and now often used for drinking tea, coffee or alcoholic beverages.
