Mini matcha bowl tsukimi 280ml

Mini matcha bowl tsukimi 280ml

A small bowl for preparing matcha tea. Light-coloured clay and an interesting design – a rabbit and a full moon. Tsukimi means ‘moon viewing’ – a festival celebrated in Japan in autumn, usually around the time of the September full moon. In Japan, it is believed that the shape of a rabbit making rice mochi balls is visible on the surface of the full moon. According to legend, the God of Heaven took the rabbit to the moon out of gratitude for its willingness to sacrifice itself to feed him during the hardships of his journey. That is why the image of the rabbit and the full moon is a traditional autumn decorative motif.

As it is quite small, use a small chasen or an electric milk frother to prepare matcha in this bowl. The cup is also ideal for other teas or as a small bowl for desserts and snacks.
