Sencha Sofu Ujicha Tea 100g
Sencha Sofu is a high-quality sencha tea from the Uji region (near Kyoto), the oldest and most prized green tea growing region in Japan. Marukyu Koyamaen is a respected producer of the highest quality tea with a history dating back several centuries. Its high quality is confirmed by numerous awards the company has received at tea competitions in Japan. Sencha Sofu is a tea made from the leaves of the Okumidori cultivar. It is a much less popular variety than Yabukita, which makes up over 80% of tea cultivation in Japan. Tea from the okumidori cultivar produces an infusion with a fresh green color and a noticeable umami taste, thanks to its high l-theanine content. Sencha Sofu is a tea of excellent quality with a rich, complex taste and aroma - vegetable notes mingle with floral ones, and the infusion is velvety and refreshing at the same time..
Cultivar - okumidori, harvest time - spring 2025.
Properties
Sencha is rich in catechin, which is produced in tea leaves under the influence of sunlight. Catechin is a very valuable health component of green tea - it regulates blood pressure, helps lower sugar and cholesterol levels, supports cancer prevention, and has antiviral and antibacterial properties. It also helps regulate metabolism and fat management in the body. Thanks to this, sencha tea supports weight loss. Sencha contains theine, which stimulates the body, making it a healthy alternative to morning coffee.
Dishes
Sencha is usually prepared in Japan in small (approx. 300 ml) teapots called kyusu. These are teapots with a characteristic handle perpendicular to the spout. You will find them in many designs in our gallery. Sencha cups are also small, often gently flaring towards the top. In Japan, it is said that cups that are light in color inside allow you to enjoy the emerald color of the tea.
Brewing method
First infusion – 4g of tea per 100ml of water, temperature 75ºC, time 1min.
