An elegant cup for sake or high-quality tea. Handmade from clay fired to a graphite colour and decorated with a traditional hakeme pattern – a sweeping stroke of a thick brush. An ascetic character, reflecting the Japanese wabi-sabi aesthetic.

Hechimon refers to unconventional items made by craftsmen in Shigaraki - it is a registered trademark of the Marui Seito studio. Just as nature creates diverse forms and each of us has a unique individuality, so “hechimon” dishes are characterized by diversity and each of them is one of a kind. Potters believe that, more than industrial products, they are thought to resemble agricultural products created by nature.
