An original tea bowl, handcrafted by Japanese ceramic artist Seigan Yamane. Dark brown clay and striking kairagi (also called onihagi) glaze - a thick layer of dense milky white glaze with irregular clay transparency. The vessel looks as if it was poured with tasty icing :) The cup is shaped like a classic matcha tea bowl - matchawan. Each time you use it, it will give you the pleasure of interacting with contemporary Japanese applied art. The bottom of each bowl has the artist's signature.

Seigan Yamane is a highly regarded ceramic artist who lives and works in Hagi town. Many years of trials and experiments with traditional materials and techniques can be seen in the artist's unique vessels. His pieces tend to be irregular in shape and are made of quite massive, often porous clay with small pebbles. They embody the Japanese aesthetic of wabi - sabi. The artist derives great joy from his daily work and wishes to pass it on to all who use the vessels he makes :)

Due to its handmade nature, each teacup is slightly different from the others - the unique distribution of the glaze on the vessel and the subtle differences in dimensions are a natural feature of items made by the artist's hand.
