Original tea bowl, handcrafted by Japanese ceramic artist Seigan Yamane. Dark brown clay and striking glazing with a glossy glaze in the color of navy blue. A melange of navy blue, sky blue, brown and black - the tea bowl takes on different color tones depending on the lighting. The teacup is shaped like a classic matcha tea bowl - matchawan, but is slightly smaller - you can hold it in one hand. It is great for green tea, a small portion of matcha or as a bowl for desserts and snacks. Every time you use it, it will give you the pleasure of interacting with contemporary applied art. The bottom of each bowl is marked with the artist's signature.

Seigan Yamane is a highly regarded ceramic artist who lives and works in Hagi town. Many years of trials and experiments with traditional materials and techniques can be seen in the artist's unique vessels. His works tend to be irregular in shape and are made of quite massive, often porous clay with small pebbles. They embody the Japanese aesthetic of wabi - sabi. The artist is famous for his experimentation with blue glazes, which has already earned the name ‘Seigan blue’. Master Seigan believes that there is some undiscovered mystery in ceramic vessels, and that the navy blue colour scheme evokes an unlimited universe. Seigan blue is the colour of the sky and the sea, a mélange of infinite possibilities of blue, navy blue and other nuances of colour. The artist derives great joy from his daily work and wishes to pass it on to all who use the vessels he makes :)

Due to the handmade nature of his work, each teacup is slightly different from the others - a unique distribution of glaze on the vessel, a different balance of colors and subtle differences in size and shape are natural features of items made by the artist's hand.
