Hokujo (Genji Shimizu) is a famous Tokoname artist, recognized as a Tokoname City Human Cultural Asset and a Master of Traditional Craft (by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan). He was awarded on many prestigious exhibitions of ceramic art. In 2016 Hokujo was presented the Order of the Sacred Treasure (Silver Rays).
