Kyusu shidei by Masaki Tachi 320ml
A classic teapot handmade from Japanese bankoyaki ceramics. Dark brown clay (known as shidei, or “purple clay”) with a metallic sheen. Precise craftsmanship, traditional shape, ceramic strainer. The teapot is unglazed both inside and out. Clay from the Yokkaichi region has a relatively high iron content, which enhances the taste of tea. Inside the teapot there is a ceramic strainer by the spout. A beautiful, elegant vessel for celebrating moments over tea.
Masaki Tachi is a talented ceramic artist who lives and works in Yokkaichi. He spent many years learning and perfecting his skills, and has received numerous prestigious awards at ceramics exhibitions. He refers to himself as a craftsman rather than an artist, as he uses traditional local ceramic techniques that have been known for generations. He places great importance on the functionality of the vessels he creates. For his contribution to traditional crafts, Mr. Tachi has been recognized as a “living treasure of the city of Yokkaichi.”
