Kamairicha Tea Takachiho 80g
Kamairicha is a relatively rare Japanese tea, produced mainly in several prefectures on the island of Kyushu. It differs from classic Japanese green teas in the way it is produced. Fresh leaves are roasted on cast iron pans, stopping the oxidation process, which in other Japanese green teas involves exposing the leaves to steam. Thanks to roasting, kamairicha tea has a very unique aroma and taste – you can smell toasted notes, sweetness, and hints of grains, but also a clear umami flavor that lasts even in the second brewing.
The dry leaves are slightly curled, and the infusion is green-golden in color with an extremely pleasant aroma bringing to mind freshly baked homemade cookies.
Original packaging - traditional washi paper, drawings showing the tea production process, and a zip lock - aesthetic and practical features. This tea is a great gift for connoisseurs of tea and good design.
Cultivar – yabukita, okumidori, harumidori, harvest time – spring 2025.
The Kamairicha offered at Nagomi comes from a small family - run tea garden that has been in cultivation for several generations in the picturesque mountain village of Hinokage, in Miyazaki Prefecture. Mr. Kai grows tea without the use of chemical pesticides, using only natural, plant-based fertilizers made from fermented rice shells.
Properties
Kamairicha contains caffeine, stimulates the body, making it a healthy alternative to morning coffee. Thanks to its l-theanine content, it also has a relaxing effect, allowing you to maintain mental alertness in a state of calm and tranquility. Like other green teas, kamairicha helps boost metabolism, contains antioxidants, and supports heart disease and cancer prevention.
Dishes
Kamairicha, like sencha, is usually prepared in Japan in small (approx. 300 ml) teapots called kyusu. These are teapots with a characteristic handle perpendicular to the spout. You will find them in many designs in our gallery. Sencha cups are also small, often gently flaring towards the top. In Japan, it is said that cups that are light in color inside allow you to enjoy the emerald color of the tea.
Brewing method
First infusion – 2g of tea per 100ml of water, temperature 80ºC, time 1min.
Second and third infusions – 80-85ºC, 0,5 - 1min.
