An original bowl made of Japanese hagiyaki ceramics. Ceramic artist Seigan Yamane has combined modern form with traditional ceramic craftsmanship techniques here – the bowl is made of dark brown clay and covered with a shiny navy blue glaze that creates unusual effects in different lighting conditions. Note the beautiful, dynamic elliptical shape with ‘wavy’ edges and striking reflections on the glaze. The artist's signature is on the bottom of the bowl. A vessel with high practical value and, at the same time, an excellent example of contemporary Japanese art. 

Seigan Yamane is a renowned ceramic artist who lives and works in Hagi. Many years of experimentation and experience with traditional materials and techniques are reflected in the artist's unique vessels. His works are usually irregular in shape and made of fairly heavy, often porous clay with small pebbles. They're the embodiment of the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi. The artist is famous for experimenting with blue glaze, which has already earned the name ‘Seigan blue’. Master Seigan believes that there is some undiscovered mystery in ceramic vessels, and the navy blue colour scheme recalls the infinite universe. Seigan blue is the colour of the sky and the sea, a blend of endless possibilities of blue, navy blue and other colour variations. The artist enjoys his daily work and wishes to share this joy with everyone who uses his vessels.

Due to its handmade nature, each teacup is slightly different from the others - the unique distribution of the glaze on the vessel and the subtle differences in shape and dimensions are a natural feature of items made by the artist's hand.
